i got tulips for valentines day, and the flowers are gone…can i salvage the bulbs?

i know my grandma has tulips growing in her backyard, but i don't have her green thumb. the dead flowers are still in the dirt and pot they came in…but can i save the bulbs?

    Yes you should be able to save them as long as they have not been attacked by some fungus or other disease. Just trim off anything that has no green on it, then bury them where you want the flowers to grow next spring, about 6-10 inches deep. Make sure they don't get too much water in the month before grow time.

    Yes, you can plant them in spring or fall. Don't cut the stems off, let them wither naturally. Keep soil moist while waiting to plant.
