    The gentleman is always the one who should pay. If you are broke and have no job, you should not be asking anyone out to dinner. If you truly cared about this girl you would have mowed lawns, carry grocery bags, done something to earn enough for dinner. Doing this will show your affection. Going somewhere nice and making her feel special when she knows you have no job or money will impress her.
    Your actions now show you are simply a slug.
